The concept of Bear Timber came about during one of the most challenging times the world has encountered - Covid-19.
In February 2020, I welcomed my first child Leo into the world. In March 2020, my home state of Tasmania, went into lock-down; shops and attractions were closed, schools were closed, all residents were encouraged to stay home and parents were having to work from home and home-school their children. During this time, I had several conversations with family and friends and, being an Early Childhood Educator and School Teacher found myself assisting them with home-schooling and providing ideas to keep their children busy and engaged at home. Following those conversations, I decided to start social media pages to share some of the learning experiences that I was engaging Leo in.
From there I was eager to extend the educational experiences to other families through sustainable and eco-friendly resources. I began doing some research to bring my ideas to life and was excited to find a local manufacturer right here in the Huon Valley of Tasmania, who helped to get things going. With the increase in sales and enquires about custom made products, my partner and I decided to purchase our own machinery and began making our own products that encourage play-based and open-ended learning.
We sincerely appreciate your business and we're so grateful for the trust you have placed in us in providing you with high quality wooden toys and educational resources.
